How Egyptian Startups handles privacy, local storage, communications, security, retention and user rights for the founder hub.

Who we are

Egyptian Startups operates a founder discovery and resource hub for Egypt. The public site is designed to be usable without an account. Where a feature stores preferences, bookmarks, language, theme, scorecard answers, chat history or install prompt state, it uses browser localStorage on the user's own device unless a future production service is clearly introduced.

What we collect

The current static/demo experience may process email addresses typed into newsletter, contact or consultation forms; browser preferences such as theme, language and background settings; saved directory bookmarks and comparison lists; startup AI chat history stored locally; funding-readiness answers; basic technical logs produced by the hosting platform; and any message content a user chooses to send.

How data is used

Data is used to operate the site, remember user preferences, provide founder tools, respond to enquiries, improve content quality, protect the service, and understand aggregate usage. We do not sell personal information. The AI workbench is a local guidance interface and does not require personal data to be useful.

Local storage keys

The app uses namespaced keys such as ns_language_v1, ns_workspace_v1, ns_bookmarks_v1, ns_ai_chat_v2, ns_ai_sessions_v1, ns_compare_startups, ns_compare_investors and ns_install_prompt_v1. Users can clear these from the footer control or through browser settings.

Retention

Local browser data remains on the device until the user clears it. Enquiry emails or operational messages should be retained only as long as needed to respond, maintain records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Hosting logs are retained according to the hosting provider's configuration.

User rights and contact

Users may request access, correction or deletion of personal information held by Egyptian Startups by emailing contact@egyptianstartups.com. Security concerns can be sent to security@egyptianstartups.com or the security.txt contact listed under /.well-known/security.txt.

Security

The site uses HTTPS, modern browser security headers, service-worker cache controls, dependency audits and restricted browser permissions. No public website can be guaranteed risk-free, so users should avoid entering sensitive regulated data into free-text tools.
